Pedal Powered Corn Sheller Build HomeThis is a featured page

This is the wiki for the Hampshire College Pedal Powered Corn Sheller project. The wiki will be used to document our progress and provide a central location for all related information. The purpose of this project is to reproduce the design of a highly efficient pedal powered corn sheller for use in agricultural communities. Pioneered by Maya Pedal, an NGO located in San Andrés Itzapa, Guatemala, this machine is fabricated from readily available raw stock and bicycle parts to ensure it is appropriate for the "developing" world. Under the guidance of Gwyndaf Jones, a Hampshire alumni who has extensive experience working with Maya Pedal, our team will build the corn sheller for use at the college's CSA farm. The project was successfully completed on December 8th of 2008.
